One Aldwyn Center, Villanova, Pa. Meet at 6:15 PM restaurant, 8 PM office
Craig Hurtt, D.M.D.:
"Endodontic Pain Diagnosis and Advances in CBCT Cone Beam Technology"
Pain emanating from the teeth can have elusive, difficult referral patterns. Dr. Hurtt will discuss objective clinical testing and go over case presentations involving facial pain and pain of endodontic origin. The incorporation of focus field CBCT in the diagnosis and endodontic manage-ment in some of these cases will also be demonstrated and discussed.
Dr. Hurtt maintains his private specialty practice with main Line Endodontic Associates in Villanova, Pa. His
residency program in Endodontics was at the University of Pennsylvania and Albert Einstein Medical Center. He has published in the Journal of Endodontics and lectured extensively on multiple aspects of case management. Craig is a member of the Academy of Stomatology and the American Association of Endodontists. |

Carl E. Steinberg, D.D.S.: “ TMD and Occlusion in Everyday Dentistry”:
Dr. Steinberg will cover a number of current topics in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ/TMD disorders and the role of occlusal balance; current insights on occlusal equilibration procedures/techniques. The body's response to an
ill-fitting bite.trauma may lead to a number of responses including headache, earaches, night bruxism, facial pain, muscle
incoordination, spasm, and joint problems.
Dr. Steinberg's Center City Philadelphia dental practice focuses on facial pain, TMJ/occlusal dysfunction and sleep disorders. He has his mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, and teaches in the residency program at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He lectures and interactively works with his students on complex reconstructive cosmetic cases and TMJ/occlusal dysfunction. Carl is also on faculty at Temple University Dental School, Dept. of Orthodontics and Thomas Jefferson University Oral Surgery Department. He is past president of the Delaware Valley Regional L.D. Pankey Study Club. |

Dr. Nupponen and Mr. Rafetto will discuss the coordination of complex TMJ/musculoskeletally involved cases
requiring oral appliances and dental reconstruction, as well as manipulative therapies. Engaging chiropractors into the treatment team/dental followup, and laboratory timing/case design will be discussed.
Dr. Penti J. Nupponen was born and raised in Helsinki, Finland. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Dental School, and has his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He lectures extensively on biologic, high-tech dentistry. His private dental practice is in Halifax/greater Harrisburg, Penna.
Rod Rafetto, C.D.T., is President/owner of Rafetto Dental Laboratory, Lansdowne, Penna. He lectures extensively to the dental community on occlusal setups with fully functional articulators, and also dental material bio-compatibility issues. |

Lawrence Bellew, D.O.:
" Cranial Osteopathy and TMJ-Craniofacial Pain, Dental-Musculoskeletal Inter-relationships"
Dr. Bellew, in his Part II series on Cranial Osteopathy, will continue his discussion with a "hands-on" approach to osteopathic concepts and manipulative medicine in managing complex cases. TMJ and cranial strain patterns, and the referrals in integrating/coordinating the dental and osteopathic patient care, will be discussed.
Dr. Bellew is a Cinical Associate Professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as director for the introductory course to Osteopathy in the Cranial field. He is board-certified in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine as well as Family Practice. He has earned, and main-tains a certificate of proficiency from the Cranial Academy in the field of Cranial Osteopathy. He has practiced in Claymont, Delaware since 1990. His practice is currently limited to the use of osteopathic manipulative medicine in the treatment of a wide variety of clinical problems. |

About the Pennsylvania Craniomandibular
Society:
The
Pennsylvania Craniomandibular
Society was founded in 1990 and chartered as a Pennsylvania non-profit
educational organization. It's membership consists of dentists, physicians
(allopathic, osteopathic, chiropractic), and physical therapists from all over
the Delaware Valley. Members have clinical practice interest and emphasis on
diagnosis and treatment of craniomandibular disorders, temporomandibular
dysfunction, craniofacial pain, head, neck musculoskeletal problems and chronic
pain management. Other topics of interest to the general membership will be
incorporated as they relate to current practice demands. The Society supports
and is an affiliate member of the American Alliance of TMD
Organizations. Lectures include member participation and annual table
clinical presentations. The Society usually has six dinner/lecture programs,
September through June, with the last meeting an annual business review and
update. The Pennsylvania
Craniomandibular Society has been designated an approved Program
Provider by the Pennsylvania Constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Each meeting provides for 2.5 hours AGD CERP/PACE Continuing Dental
Education maintenance credits for Fellowship and Mastership, Academy
of General Dentistry Sponsor # 208932. The current term of
approval extends from 4/20/2009 to 4/20/2012. We welcome new members!
