Stephen David Smith, D.M.D.

Dr. Stephen David Smith received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1969. He is currently Professor of Maxillo-Temporomandibular Disorders, Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Orofacial Plastic Surgery (E.N.T.) at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He founded the Temporomandibular Center at the college, and developed the mini-residency tutorial program in Craniofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Orthopedics from 1981-1990. He has published numerous scientific papers and lectured extensively to medical, dental, physical therapy, and legal societies throughout the United States and abroad. He is noted for his clinical photography.

Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Head, Neck and Facial Pain, Diplomate of the American Board of Head, Neck, and Facial Pain, Diplomate, American Board of Craniofacial pain, Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep and Diplomate, American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. His primary private dental practice is in Paoli, Pa., with emphasis on TMJ/TMD-temporomandibular disorders, cranio-facial pain, and oral appliance therapy for snoring / obstructive sleep apnea.

He is credentialed by the Certification Board of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and is section editor on sleep apnea for the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice.
